Share
This is margherita pizza elevated. We're starting with a Neapolitan-style pizza crust, layering on rich Ceriello Homemade Pizza Sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil — then finishing with a drizzle of Truffle Flavored Balsamic Glaze that takes this classic completely over the top. Simple ingredients, extraordinary result.
Ingredients
- 1 package Pizza Mix, Neapolitan Pizza Crust Style
- ¾ cup Ceriello Homemade Pizza Sauce
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
- 2 medium Roma or vine-ripened tomatoes, thinly sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- Flaky sea salt, to taste
- Truffle Flavored Balsamic Glaze, for finishing
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
Prepare the Neapolitan Pizza Crust Mix according to package directions. Once the dough comes together, let it rest for 10–15 minutes. On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll it into a 12–14" round — Neapolitan style means thin in the center with a slightly puffed edge.
2. Preheat
Place a pizza stone or heavy baking sheet in the oven and preheat to 500°F (or as high as your oven will go) for at least 30 minutes. High heat is the secret to a great Neapolitan crust.
3. Sauce It
Spread a generous layer of Ceriello Homemade Pizza Sauce over the dough, leaving about a ½" border around the edge. The sauce is rich and deeply flavored — you don't need much.
4. Top It
Arrange the fresh mozzarella slices evenly over the sauce, then layer the sliced tomatoes on top. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and season with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
5. Bake
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or pan. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until the crust is golden and blistered and the cheese is bubbling and lightly browned in spots.
6. Finish with Truffle Balsamic
Remove from the oven and immediately scatter fresh basil leaves over the top. Then comes the magic: drizzle Truffle Flavored Balsamic Glaze generously over the pizza in a slow, even stream. The earthy truffle and sweet-tart balsamic play beautifully against the fresh mozzarella and tomato.
7. Slice and Serve
Slice immediately and serve hot. This pizza is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven.
Tips
- Pat your tomato slices dry with a paper towel before topping — this prevents a soggy crust.
- Don't overload the sauce — Neapolitan pizza is about balance and restraint.
- The truffle balsamic glaze is also incredible drizzled over burrata, roasted vegetables, or grilled bread.
- For an extra-crispy bottom, finish the pizza directly on the oven rack for the last 2 minutes.
