Garlic & Chive Parmesan Crisps with Carmie’s Tomato Basil Soup

Garlic & Chive Parmesan Crisps with Carmie’s Tomato Basil Soup

Golden Parmesan crisps bring a savory crunch to a cozy bowl of Carmie’s Kitchen Tomato Basil Soup. Season the crisps with Wisconsin 26 Garlic & Chive Dip Mix, then serve alongside or add one to each bowl just before eating.

Makes: approximately 16 crisps. Prep: 5 minutes. Bake: 5–8 minutes per batch. Soup preparation time and yield follow the package directions.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Toss the freshly grated Parmesan with the dry Garlic & Chive Dip Mix. Do not prepare the mix as a dip.
  3. Place level tablespoon portions on the baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between them. Gently flatten into thin, even circles about 2½ inches wide.
  4. Bake for 5–8 minutes, watching closely near the end, until bubbling and lightly golden. Remove before the cheese or garlic turns dark brown.
  5. Cool completely on the baking sheet before lifting with a thin spatula. The crisps firm up as they cool. Repeat with any remaining cheese mixture.
  6. Prepare Carmie’s Tomato Basil Soup according to its package directions, using the specified quantities of tomato sauce, cream and any other required ingredients.
  7. Ladle the soup into bowls. Serve the Parmesan crisps alongside, or place one on top immediately before serving. Do not stir them into the soup early, since they soften in liquid.

Tips and storage

  • Grate Parmesan from a wedge rather than using shelf-stable shaker cheese for more reliable melting.
  • Do not add salt to the crisps; Parmesan already provides savory flavor.
  • Serve the crisps the same day for the best crunch. Cool completely before storing airtight at room temperature for up to two days.
  • Store the crisps separately from the soup.
