The real star is the warm French onion dipping sauce made with chicken broth and Simply Savory French Onion Dip Mix — rich, savory, and deeply onion-forward. Think French dip sandwich meets game day slider. Set them out at kickoff and watch them disappear.
Ingredients
For the Sliders
- 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian slider rolls
- 1 lb thinly sliced deli roast beef
- 6 slices Swiss cheese (or Gruyère for extra richness)
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Optional: caramelized onions, fresh thyme
For the French Onion Dipping Sauce
- 1 packet Simply Savory French Onion Dip Mix
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
Step 1: Make the French Onion Dipping Sauce
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the French Onion Dip Mix, then pour in the chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is fragrant and slightly reduced. Keep warm on low heat until ready to serve. Pour into small bowls for dipping.
Step 2: Assemble the Sliders
Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice the slider rolls in half horizontally (keeping them connected) and place the bottom halves in a greased 9x13 baking dish. Layer on the roast beef, then top with Swiss cheese slices. Place the top buns on.
Step 3: Butter and Bake
Mix the melted butter with garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce and brush generously over the tops of the buns. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 5–7 minutes until the tops are golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 4: Slice, Dip, and Serve
Slice into individual sliders and serve immediately alongside the warm French onion dipping sauce. For the ultimate game day presentation, serve the dipping sauce right in the JF Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar Dipping Platter-Football — a football-shaped platter made for exactly this moment. Dunk generously. Every bite — warm roast beef, melted Swiss, buttery bun, rich onion broth — is pure game day perfection.
Game Day Serving Tips
- Pour the warm French onion dipping sauce into the Football Dipping Platter for a show-stopping game day centerpiece.
- Keep sliders warm in a low oven (200°F) covered with foil until ready to serve.
- Keep the dipping sauce warm in a slow cooker on the “warm” setting throughout the game.
- Pair with kettle chips or a pickle platter to round out the spread.
Tips & Variations
- Make ahead — assemble the sliders the night before, refrigerate, and bake day-of. Make the dipping sauce fresh right before serving.
- Beef broth swap — use beef broth instead of chicken broth for a deeper, richer dipping sauce.
- Caramelized onion upgrade — layer caramelized onions on top of the roast beef before adding the cheese for extra depth.
- Extra cheesy — add a layer of provolone under the Swiss for double the melt.
