Everything Swedish Meatballs

A cozy, pantry-driven take on a classic — made with the good stuff.

Serves: 4  |  Time: 45 minutes


For the Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef (or half beef, half pork)
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 tbsp Everything But The Swedish Meatball Seasoning
  • ¼ tsp dried nutmeg
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter for browning

For the Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley to finish

Instructions

  1. Mix meatball ingredients until just combined. Roll into 1-inch balls.
  2. Brown in butter over medium-high heat, turning to get color on all sides. Set aside.
  3. In the same pan, melt butter and whisk in flour. Cook 1 minute.
  4. Slowly whisk in broth until smooth. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in sour cream and Worcestershire. Season to taste.
  6. Return meatballs to the pan and simmer 10 minutes.
  7. Finish with fresh parsley and serve over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice.
