Benamati Tortellini Skewers — The Easiest Party Appetizer You'll Make All Season

Benamati Tortellini Skewers — The Easiest Party Appetizer You'll Make All Season

Some appetizers look impressive. Some are easy. These tortellini skewers are both — and they come together in under 20 minutes thanks to one secret ingredient: Benamati Blend Seasoning Dip Mix.

The same herb-and-garlic blend that transforms a loaf of bread into an unforgettable appetizer works just as beautifully tossed with warm tortellini, fresh basil, and a drizzle of good olive oil. Thread them onto skewers with a few simple accompaniments and you've got a crowd-pleaser worthy of any charcuterie board, dinner party, or backyard gathering.

Benamati Tortellini Skewers

Makes about 24 skewers | Ready in 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 (20 oz) package refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 2 tbsp Wisconsin 26 Benamati Blend Seasoning Dip Mix
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 24 fresh basil leaves
  • 12 oz fresh mozzarella balls (ciliegine), halved
  • 1 cup cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 24 small skewers or cocktail picks
  • Flaky sea salt, to finish

Instructions

  1. Cook tortellini according to package directions. Drain and let cool for 5 minutes — you want them warm but not steaming.
  2. While the tortellini rests, whisk together the Benamati Blend and olive oil in a large bowl. Let it sit for 2–3 minutes so the herbs bloom.
  3. Toss the warm tortellini in the seasoned oil until evenly coated.
  4. To assemble: thread a basil leaf (folded), one tortellini, a mozzarella half, and a cherry tomato onto each skewer.
  5. Arrange on a platter, drizzle with any remaining Benamati oil from the bowl, and finish with a pinch of flaky salt.

Serve immediately or at room temperature within 2 hours.

Tips & Variations

  • Make it a meal: Toss the dressed tortellini with arugula and serve family-style instead of skewering.
  • Add a protein: A slice of salami or a marinated olive makes a great addition to each skewer.
  • Prep ahead: Cook and oil-toss the tortellini up to 2 hours ahead; assemble skewers just before serving.
  • Try it chilled: Refrigerate the dressed tortellini and serve cold for a picnic or potluck.

The Benamati Blend Story

This mix started as a bread dipping oil blend — garlic, oregano, basil, rosemary, cracked pepper, and sea salt — inspired by the Italian bread baskets that make you forget dinner is coming. It turns out those same flavors are extraordinary on pasta, grilled meats, roasted vegetables, and now, these skewers. Shop the Benamati Blend →
